Are Coaches a Waste of Time Transcript

Greg Wilkes:

So, I’m coming at you with this episode all the way from Hawaii. I’m over here. You might be thinking what you’re doing over in Hawaii. Well, it’s not holiday. I’m just here for six days and I’m here to be coached myself. I’ve actually got a business coach who helps me scale my business. And what I wanted this podcast to be about is why I feel a business coach is vital for anyone who’s trying to grow themselves personally and grow their business. I’m gonna tell you a little bit about my journey. We’re gonna talk about why you might need a coach and why some have resistance towards getting coaching. We’ll talk about some of the benefits of investing in the right training courses. We’re also gonna talk about what happens if a coach or a training course is not working the way you want it to be, and how you can be a good student if you are gonna invest in this sort of time, um, and resource to improve yourself.

So, let’s jump into it. First of all, let me just tell you a little bit about why I’ve got a coach. So obviously I’m a construction business coach, but originally I was a builder. So I’ve come from, uh, carpentry backgrounds, did an apprenticeship. You’ve probably heard my story before. Grew quite a big company and I know how to grow businesses. That’s one thing I can do really well. But there’s a difference between knowing how to do something and, and writing down the theory, and then being able to teach that to others. Because if you don’t learn the right method of teaching, what you can do is you can have potentially great content, but then no one can implement it because you’re not actually teaching or training it the right way. So there’s definitely a different skill set needed from being a coach to being just a good business person.

So it is really important to me, even though I wrote my book and I was getting great feedback from the book that yeah, your ideas are fantastic and they’re working for us in the business, uh, it was really important for me that we actually had to make that really practical for people to be able to, to do that. So I was hungry to grow my coaching business and I didn’t really know all the strategies in order to do that. I knew how to get construction clients, but how would I go and get clients that potentially wanted to be coached and how would I structure my program and what would I teach? What niche would I go for? Would I go for people that are on the tools or people that have established businesses and things like that? So there was a lot of decisions to make.

So I researched coaches left, right, and center on who would be the best at this. And I’m a massive believer in picking someone who’s in the best in the industry for what they do. And I found a, an amazing coach. His name is Tacky Moore. He’s based out in Australia, and I eventually started with him. I was really small at the time, only had a few one-to-one clients when I started with him back in, oh, when was it now? March I think, 2021. When sort, I sort of really started kicking things off. Since I’ve been with this coach, I’ve actually 10 xd the size of my business, which is absolutely incredible. So the 10 x is just brilliant, not just for me personally, ’cause obviously it’s financially better for me, <laugh> if I 10 x the business, but I’m having more of an impact on the world.

I’m having an impact in my coaching clients’ lives. They’re able to impact their own lives and, you know, have more time, freedom and money for them and their families. So it’s a massive reward for me, uh, to see other people get results. But it’s also, you know, a great lifestyle for me. And because of the coaching, I’ve been able to move over to Sydney, Australia. I can still run my coaching business from there. I’ve got clients around the world that are in my program, and really I’m able to create a, a business that’s timeless and spaceless because I’ve got recorded videos that people can watch. They can watch that anytime of the day. And spaceless, I can literally do this anywhere in the world, hence why I’m recording this episode from Hawaii. So me having a coach personally has completely transformed my business. I do believe I could have grown a business successfully without having a coach, but what he’s done is sped it up without a doubt.

I’ve definitely managed to get there a hell of a lot faster than that, than I would’ve done on my own. And it’s also helped me grow as a person because I’m listening to other people in the group program. I’m, uh, mixing with other world class coaches and I’m seeing how they do things differently. How they don’t allow the coaching business to overtake their lives. How they, you know, don’t allow clients problems to, uh, completely take over their lives. ’cause it can do, sometimes you’re not just a coach, but you feel like a, a psychologist and a counselor sometimes. And, and fair enough, because people have problems from business that really impacts their own personal lives and their marriages and all sorts. So it is really been valuable to, to be with people in that space that understand what I’m going through. And it’s obviously a completely different ball game to construction.

So enough about me and why coaching’s benefited me. I wanna talk about why you should invest in your personal self-development and your business. And one of the big reasons is because construction is changing. The construction industry is a little bit of a dinosaur, and sometimes it takes ages to actually change, but we are seeing huge changes in this landscape. The first change is coming from our marketing, the way we market ourselves, the way we now have to be on social media. Uh, we have to have a, a good website. You have to be out there, you have to be doing videos and vlogs and whatever else. And sometimes people can get left behind if they’re not actually doing any of these things and they’re just relying on word of mouth and recommendations. You can really get left behind in the construction industry. So you have to evolve with it.

And if you’re not comfortable in doing things like that, then that’s why you potentially need to invest in self development so you can learn how to market yourself as a business. So that’s, that’s one of the, the first reasons also, we’re seeing a big change with AI at the moment, that’s gonna be completely transformative for construction. And if we wanna stay ahead of the game, we need to understand how to use AI in our business, whether that’s in our marketing on our social media, whether that’s using it to help us with our operations, our contracts, our job descriptions for staff. There’s tons of reasons why we might use ai. And clearly if we’re not using that and our rivals are, we are gonna be left behind. So self-development and investing in training programs that teach you how to use AI is absolutely key. So you can evolve, evolve with the industry.

We’ve always got new software that’s arrive in, so there’s project management tools, tools to manage your finances. We wanna be on top of the latest, uh, technology for these tools, how to price jobs quickly and efficiently. And if we have an understanding of what software is out there, then obviously we’re gonna save a huge amount of time. And if we’re in a course that shows us what all those tools are and the best ones to use for us, then that’s gonna be a real game changer too. We also wanna improve our own skills and abilities. So if you’re anything like me, you know, I did okay at school, not fantastic, but I was trained to be a carpenter. The only official qualification I have is to be a carpenter and, and an electrician actually. So, so I’ve got two official qualifications there, but none of those qualifications taught me about business.

Not at all. They didn’t tell me <laugh>, how to understand the profit and loss report, how to hire, how to fire, all, all those sort of things. You, you don’t get taught any of that during your carpentry trade. So there’s so many in construction that are now running businesses and they might have a few people working for them, but they’ve never, ever been taught or learned the skills and have the ability to, to run an effective to construction company. And they may be running it okay at the moment, at whatever size they are. Maybe they’re at 500,000 or a million, but are they gonna be able to run a 2, 3, 4, 5 million pound company or more? So when you invest in that self-development, you are learning how to improve your skills and abilities and your, your investing in yourself really to, for your future. The other reason for investing in self-development is because you are clearly wanting to grow the business and improve your own prosperity in life.

And if, uh, self-development, uh, can get you there, if you can upskill yourself and you learn new things and it means you can take on better projects and better contracts and earn more money, then of course you’re gonna wanna invest in that self-development in yourself so that you’ve got the ability to do that. So we know the reasons why people invest in training and self-development is quite obvious, isn’t it? But what is coaching? What’s the difference between coaching and maybe just training? So first of all, what a coach is there for. Just like if we give an example of someone who may play sport, you may get one of the best tennis players in the world, let’s say Roger Federer, I know he’s retired now, or <inaudible> or someone like that. Uh, an amazing tennis player, literally the best in the world. And then you think, well, why have they got a coach?

Why on earth would that person need a coach? Well, the reason is, is because when they’re doing their thing and they’re in their flow, that tennis player can’t see where he’s going wrong. He can’t see that he’s changed his grip on his racket, and that’s making him hit the net more than he should. He can’t see that when he’s serving, he’s losing power in his serve because of the ball toss or something like that. So even though they may be fantastic at what they do the best in the world, who are interested in improving, always invest in coaches. So we understand what a coach does and that obviously a coach can motivate someone, they can help out with their mindset. If they’re not feeling right, they can, you know, talk to about about why that is and really get to the depth of the, the matter and help ’em overcome that.

So a good coach will be able to do that for you. But it’s different than just investing in training. So training is where you are learning how to do something. You’re being educated on a particular subject, but a coach is the one that can help you implement it and they can show you the strategy on, alright, now you understand how to do this, but how are we gonna be able to implement this for you and your, uh, construction business? And that’s really the difference between a coach. A good coach will hold you accountable. So if you commit to doing something in a week and say, yeah, I’m gonna get that done, a good coach will just give you a little tap on the back and say, Greg, how did you get on with that? You promised you were gonna send your profit loss report over.

Did you manage to do it well, Greg, you said you were gonna invest in that training software, have you managed to do it? So a coach can hold you accountable, he can help you with your skillset and really they can see things that you can’t see. So that’s really what a coach is. But there’s again, there’s different types of coaches, there’s so many coaches out there, and then you need to think, well, what is the right type of coach for me? So you get some coaches that are just generic business coaches. They may have created a, a brilliant business in the past so they know the principles of business itself. And yeah, business is based on principles and those principles are sometimes universal, but it’s also good to get a coach who’s specific in what you are looking for. So for me personally, I’ve got a coach who I believe is one of the best coaches of coaches, <laugh>, that’s all he does.

So he just coaches other coaches and his whole training program is around that. So it’s perfect for me. I’m not learning something, I don’t need to know it at this time. So if you’re gonna invest in a coach as a construction business, you wanna find a coach that fits your criteria. Are they a construction coach? Have they been there and done what you’ve, are their skills transferable to your business? So rather than getting a generic coach, you want to get, try and get someone if you can, that understands you and the industry and that’s gonna be a huge benefit. There are of course benefits from other coaches. Don’t get me wrong. I’ve also had other coaches that aren’t as specific to, to train me in other areas. So I had a coach who was training me on how to grow my different social media channels.

I had a coach that helped me with my podcast. So not saying you only ever have one coach that’s, that’s just for construction, but you need to pick the right coach at the right time and and make sure that they’re gonna be able to help you grow in the specific area that you are looking at. So that’s the different types of coaching and, and what coaches there are. But really the, the point I probably want to try and get across is I can’t tell you the value in me personally having a coach. What a difference it’s made in my business. Picking the right coach has been instrumental and I’ve had other coaches before and they haven’t been right, but when you find the right one, it can really be a game changer. And this coach, I’ve got no intention of of going anywhere because he’s gonna take me to, uh, my goal, which is to ultimately help 10,000 construction business owners create more time, freedom and money.

And I really believe that coach is gonna get me there. So we understand coaching, let’s just talk about the reasons why people may resist getting a coach altogether or, or or getting trained in what they’re doing. So there’s a few myths about coaching and training that, or misconceptions you could say that exist out there. Some of those misconceptions. And what, what people sometimes feel is that the coach is gonna do everything for you. So they feel they can come and get a coach, tell ’em all their problems, and then their coach is just gonna magically fix their business. And that just doesn’t happen. That’s, that’s not reality. You may get some done for you coaches that can do elements of your business, but there’s gonna be no coach out there that’s gonna take your business over for you. So the reality is, if you wanna grow and you want to improve, then you are gonna have to do the work.

And a coach is just gonna point you in the right direction and give you the training to help you do it. So he’s gonna upskill you, give you the skillset to do it, and then point you in the right direction of how to do it or, or potentially point you in the direction of someone that can help you do it, but the coach isn’t gonna fix your business for you. So you’ve got, um, be prepared to, uh, deal with that. Another reason people worry about getting coaches is because they’re worried about changing. They feel that a coach may completely change how their business looks at the moment and may suggest to them things that they just don’t want to do. And they worry about what impact that’s gonna have on their business. Or what if they tell me to fire this person or do that, or what if they ask me to do something that really puts me outta my comfort zone.

So that fear of change can hold people back and I understand that. And one thing we’ve gotta in mind is that a good coach should be able to understand what you can and can’t do. And at the end of the day, it’s your business. So while me personally as a coach, I’m pretty honest with my clients. If I don’t feel they’re doing the right thing, I’ll tell ’em straight. But if there’s massive resistance to doing something because it doesn’t fit their personality or their life, then a good coach needs to find another way of implementing a different strategy in order for it to work for their client. ’cause at the end of the day, you just want your clients to win. And it doesn’t mean that you are always right all the time. Sometimes you need to adjust it. So some people resist coaching because of, of a little bit of a, a fear of change.

Others resist because they’re worried about the financial concern. When you invest in a coach, generally speaking, you’ve got maybe a a 12 24, 36 month program. You know, you don’t turn a business around overnight. It’s a long process. You know, some, some people with coaches their entire lives because they’re creating, you know, huge companies. So people worry about that financial commitment, am I gonna be able to afford it? And the reality is a lot of people come into coaching because the fin, they’re financially struggling in business and it’s sometimes when that financial hit happens and they’ve got that financial pressure, then they start thinking, oh, last, last resort I’ve gotta go and get a coach. And it’s, that’s really too late <laugh> at that point. And that’s not the time to become into coaching when you are financially distressed because you can’t turn businesses around overnight. It takes time to implement strategies and then time to see the results of that.

Well, I always call it, there’s a little bit of lag before between when you do something and when you actually start seeing the results from it. So financially, if you’re worried about getting into coaching, I think you really need to plan that. You’ve got, you know, I dunno, a three to six month budget to, to cover the coaching then hopefully the, the coaching itself should be able to pay for itself. If it didn’t pay for itself, then it wouldn’t be a good coaching course. But you hope that the impact of the coach in helping you get more leads and more projects is gonna be able to pay for itself anyway. So that, that should address the financial concern. There are obviously huge benefits with working with coaches. I mean, I’ve got a ton of case studies from my clients. Uh, one of my favorite case studies is probably a client that come to me.

His name was Dominic, who’s, uh, with me in the program at the moment. He’s been with me a couple of years I’d say. And he initially come to me because he was approaching retirement and he’d always had amazing projects. He was always doing well, got great leads and got good projects on board. But he had a few years of really bad financial, uh, really bad sort of financial decisions that were made. And he wasn’t making the money he should in this business. He couldn’t quite work out why, but he had a few years of a loss. So he had some years he was doing amazing then obviously a few years of a loss. And as he was approaching retirement, he thought, wait a minute, I’m not gonna be able to pay my mortgage off here if I carry on at this rate and you know what’s going on.

I’m working really hard, I’m getting amazing jobs, but haven’t got any money to show for it. In fact, I’m actually losing money may as well see at home and just write a check out to your clients. So what was going wrong? So we uh, really done a deep dive into what was happening in Dominic’s business. We immediately got him on what we call our profit and loss tracker. So we start analyzing his profit every single month. We did him a forecast of what we wanted to get him to, and then we measured his strategy every single month. If there was a month he didn’t hit, we’d have to dive into why. And then we’d look at those specific projects. He started tracking not just his monthly profit and loss, but each individual project. So we could then dive in and say, well, why is this project not coming in on budget?

What’s gone wrong? Was it the pricing? Has it run over time? What is it that’s done it? And by having all these figures to hand and having all this data, it’s really easy for a good coach to be able to analyze that and come up with a, a solution based on that data. So because we had that data going forward over the course of that year, Dominic went from being a company that was losing money to making over 300,000 pounds in profit, which was absolutely incredible. What was even more special though about this was that the next year he went on a cruise around, I’m sure it was the Caribbean or The Bahamas, something like that. And he had just a satellite phone. So he left his phone at home. He had no signal, had a satellite phone for emergencies, and was able to leave his business for two weeks because he’d put the right systems and process in place for it to run without him.

So that’s probably, you know, one of my favorite case studies because it massively impacted his financial situation, but it was impacting his life. He now had absolute confidence that he was gonna pay off his mortgage and he was getting some more time back to enjoy his business and his life by, by being able to go sail him. And there’s loads of case studies like that and that’s, that’s what what’s amazing. If you look on my website, you’ll see case studies of all sorts of people that have had massive success in the industry because they’ve invested in a coach or some training. You also see people personally growing, which I think is fantastic. You see people coming out of their shell a little bit and growing as a person. You see some people, they come on some of our coaching calls and they’re really shy and quite introverted.

And then as they start building their confidence and their skills and uh, the way they’re running their business, they, they, you know, they become really alive on the calls and that feeds through into the way they pitch to clients. So now when they’re pitching to clients for sales, you see their confidence coming through and their ability. So they’re winning better contracts ’cause clients are buying into them too. So we see massive personal growth with people also, which is really encouraging and and heartwarming for me to see. And obviously if we manage to impact the business, which means their employees are happier and if we manage to impact the business, it also means we’re impacting their lives, their personal lives. ’cause these people have all got families, wives and potentially kids to go home to. And if their business is going well and they’re not stressed out and they’re earning good money, then of course life gets better.

You know, you get to take your kids to Disney and uh, you get to have a Friday off and take your partner out for lunch and you get to take your kids to school or go to their school play. You can do all of that if your business is running the right way. So, huge benefits personally and in business by investing in a coach. So how do you choose the right coach? How do you choose the right training program? Well, we touched on this before. I think it’s really important to get someone who’s industry specific, but also you wanna get someone who’s dealing with what your problem is at the moment. So is your problem that you haven’t got a right, the right plan in place? Maybe you don’t know where you’re going and you’re just winging it a little bit and you haven’t really got a, you know, a one or five year plan of how you’re gonna get there.

You dunno when it’s the right time to hire that next project manager or bring on, uh, a social media market or whatever. It’s you need, there’s just no plan there. So if it’s plan that you need, you need to find a business coach that can help you with that plan is it may be that you need to attract better clients to your business. You’re sick of working for the clients that are always, um, struggling with money and they’re run outta money at the end of the project. Maybe you want to attract more affluent clients, maybe you wanna attract bigger projects. So if that’s the case, you need to find a client, a, a, a coach who is excellent in attracting more leads to your business. That’s really important. Maybe it’s that you can’t convert, maybe you’re not very good at the sales side of it.

So you get tons of leads through the door and you’re pricing all these projects up, but you’re not winning any of them or, or winning a really low amount. You’re sick of spending money, um, and time pricing all these jobs up and not winning them. So maybe you need a coach that can help you with your conversion or maybe it’s that you need a coach that can help you with the delivery side. Yeah, you might have a load of work you might be able to convert, but <laugh> the delivery on site could be a mess. You know, you’re very disorganized, people are always waiting for materials. Your jobs are always overrunning. Maybe your health and safety shocking on site or people aren’t doing what they should be doing or the qualities going downhill. So there could be some real problems with delivery and maybe you need a coach that can help you with the actual delivery side of things.

Or it could be still on delivery. It could be the back office. You could have, you know, your sites may be running really well, but maybe your back office is a mess. Paperwork everywhere. You’re not on top of your numbers, haven’t got any software installed. So you know, the, the office is just chaotic and, and stressful. So a a, a business coach that’s good at systems and procedures and operations that could be perfect for you. Or maybe you’re at a size now where you are ready to scale and you wanna scale fast to the next level. Maybe you’re already a business at one to 3 million, you wanna get to five to 10 and you are looking for someone, a coach that can help you with hiring the right sort of people, getting the right company culture in place, how you can measure and manage as a business owner so you can step back.

Maybe it’s that type of thing that you need. So you really need to decide what type of coach you want and is there a coach that can fit all those or tick all those boxes? And you’re never gonna get a perfect coach out there. You know, it’s rare to find someone who’s the best at what they do across all the areas. But if there’s someone that you think can cover all those bases or is, you know, highly good at one specific thing that you wanna resolve, then that’s the sort of coach that you wanna be looking for. When you are going with a coach, you could always ask if there’s a trial session, you know, are you able to test out the program before you have to commit? ’cause most coaching programs, as we said, the 12, 24 36 months or the, you know, ongoing, you, you probably wanna just check if there is a coach that can, you know, do like a four week trial just to see if you like it or not.

One thing we offer is what we call a love it or leave it offer because we believe in the first 30 days, you know exactly whether or not it’s gonna work for you. And if it’s not right for for us and it’s not right for you, then you know, clearly you’re probably better off not being in the program because we don’t wanna work with people that are not happy in the program and, and, uh, are not doing well. And likewise, you’re not gonna wanna be in the program if you, if you don’t think it’s right. So try and find someone who potentially gives you a little bit of a trial period if, if possible. So let’s imagine you’ve taken the step, you realize that coaching is right for you, uh, you can see the benefits, but now you want to know is it working or not?

You know, how do I know if this is working for me? Am I running at the right pace of everyone else? Well, one way to measure that is by ensuring that you set key performance indicators or KPIs right at the beginning of your journey. You wanna understand the metrics that lead to progress or that indicate progress. So maybe one of your metrics is, I’m currently a million pound a year company and I want to hit 2 million pounds for this year. Let’s imagine you wanna double, so what are gonna be the metrics that measure that success? Yeah, of course you could just look at the end of the year and go, yeah, I’ve hit 2 million, but how much better it be if actually there was a, a real plan in place of how you get from one to 2 million? How much should I invoice in January?

How much should I invoice in February? How do we get that growth spur and are there gonna be quiet periods in my calendar? Maybe if you’re a little bit seasonal like a plumber or a gas heating engineer, you may be really busy in winter, but then the summer dies down. So you wanna understand and set the right KPIs. In that instance, if it was, you know, financial revenue that you’re going for, maybe it’s not that, maybe it’s profitability or maybe you wanna measure how many staff you’re taking on or how many teams you’re bringing on board, but whatever you’re doing, you have to set KPIs right at the beginning of your journey so you understand what it means to make success. And if you are hitting those KPIs, you know you’re on the right path. So that’s really important. Maybe you’ve got other things you wanna do there, maybe it’s personal growth that you’re looking for.

So you might personally be thinking, well I want to, I want to have more time as a person to, you know, grow myself and grow my mindset and read more books and things like that. So sometimes a coaching program can help you with that and they can, you know, show you how to get some more time back so you can do those things and maybe in the group that you’re in, they talk about books they’re reading all the time and that can inspire you. So that can be a bit of an indicator of progress if you are reading those books and then implementing them. So you’re seeing personal growth and of course you wanna see business growth across all areas of the business as we, we’ve spoken about the financial side of it, but you also wanna see it with your employees. You know, are they coming along for the journey?

Are they happy there? Are they enjoying it? Are they making progress? Are they stepping up to, uh, more management positions because they see a, a future with you as a company? So all of that can give you indicators that coaching and training is working for you. But what about if it’s not working? What’s a sign of a a coach that’s just not working for you? Well, one thing we always look out for is what we call red flags in a business. And we specifically measure our red flags with re in, uh, with regard to revenue, first of all, so sorry, not just revenue, but revenue, uh, gross profit, net profit, all those things. We track all those KPIs. If we see a business owner getting red flags consistently in one area, let’s imagine that their gross profit is dropping every single month and they’re not hitting their KPIs, then we’ll need to get that business owner on a call and just have a chat go, right, Greg, what’s happening?

You, you turnover’s fantastic. You, you’re getting more work than you ever have before, but why are we not making as much money on these projects? What’s going wrong on the project delivery side? And then we’d have to do a bit of a deep dive into why that is. Is it that they’re spending too much on materials? Is it that their labor costs have shot up? Are they underpricing work? So we’d have to dive into what those things are, but seeing many red flags and, and, and those red flags not being dealt with is an indication that the coaching is not working. A red flag is, is great in a way because it, it, it just puts a marker there. And then, you know, a good coaching program will dive in immediately and say, right, let’s address this. But if there’s consistent reg flags happening all the time, then something’s not right there and it’s not being, not being dealt with.

Um, if a coaching program doesn’t seem to be working for you, then you really need to find a solution and work out why is it that the communication style’s not right? Is it, uh, the way that you’re being trained isn’t right? So hopefully in your trial period, you’ve already be been able to establish if the the style of coaching is right for you. But if something’s changed in your personal life and things aren’t just working the way they were before, then you need to really try and find a solution with that. So talk to your coach and see if there’s a way of you getting yourself reset again and back on track. And, and sometimes you just need to accept reality. You know, if you come to an end of a coaching program and it just hasn’t been right, maybe your styles haven’t worked well together and you’re just a bit of a personality clash or you don’t enjoy the group that you’re in, then you know, the reality is if it’s not working for you, you might need to move on and find another coach or another program that is gonna be a little bit more suited.

But how can you ensure that a coaching program is gonna work? How can you be a really good student when you’re being coached? Well, one thing we always emphasize is being a really good listener and getting involved in the group training side of the program. ’cause in our masterminds, we’re a big believer in that there’s more power in many brains than just one. And we know that those that are regular on our group coaching calls, uh, can make massive progress because they’re listening all the time to what’s going on in other people’s business. So they might come on and talk about their own stuff, but then in the backgrounds maybe they’re, they’re just working away in the background, but they’re listening to what other people are going through and the problems they’re having and, and then the solutions that they’re finding. And that’s really key.

You’ve gotta listen attentively and really focus in on the training so you’re understanding the nuances of it to, in order to apply it into your business. Of course, listening is important, but there’s no point just listening. You need to actively implement what you are learning. So really important to understand the training. And once you’ve understood that training, you’ve processed it in your mind, you then need to go out and implement that strategy and put it into play. There’s no good having it all up there as theory. You’ve actually gotta implement it and, and see it take, take fruit and take action. And then probably the, the third area of being a good student, I would say is you’ve gotta be open to receiving honest feedback. It’s no good having a coach that just tells you, you’re doing amazing all the time. <laugh>, sometimes you need someone that’s gonna be constructive and say, listen Greg, it’s amazing what you’re doing here, but can I just tell you one thing that I can see is just not working?

These social media posts you’re putting out are just not right at the moment or your website isn’t looking right or your presentations that you’re sending to clients, you’re just missing this. And you’ve gotta be open to that feedback that’s so important that you accept that it’s not a slight on you and your personality, it’s just, you know, open and honest feedback on, on how you can improve and you’re investing in yourself. You’re here for improvement. So be open and be willing to accept that. So we’ve covered a lot here just, uh, recapping some of the stuff we’ve looked, we’ve looked at why I got into coaching, how it 10 x my business. We’ve talked about why you should invest in self-development and and and what a coach is, um, why you might resist coaching, the benefits of of working with a coach and how you can find the right training program, what to do if a program isn’t working for you, and how you can be a good student too.

So lots of lots of stuff we’ve covered there. If I was gonna say one thing though, I would say that a good business coach is worth their weight in gold. If a coach can help you speed up the, the time it takes you to grow. So, alright, you might, if you’re at 1 million, you wanna get to 2 million, yeah, you’re probably gonna get there anyway on your own if you are that sort of person. But if a business coach can help you do it in half the time or you can help you do it without making some of the mistakes that you might have made along the way, or you can be upskilled in a certain area so you’re improving the business and you’re improving your life, then of course a business coach is gonna be worth it and it’s worth that financial investment in yourself and in your business. So I hope that epi episode helps a little bit. If you ever wanna talk about potentially coming into our program and being coached by me, we’d love to be able to talk to you if you qualify for that. But I wish you all the best and speak to you on the next episode.
